A ductless mini-split system delivers conditioned air directly into a room through a wall-mounted indoor unit connected to a compact outdoor compressor. There's no ductwork involved — just a small conduit running through the wall. That makes it the right solution when extending existing ductwork isn't practical or isn't worth the cost.

 

Most ductless systems are heat pumps, which means the same unit that keeps a room cool in July can keep it warm in January.   • Is a mini-split worth it for a room addition?

    In most cases, yes. Extending ductwork into a new addition requires opening walls and ceilings, and the cost adds up quickly. A ductless mini-split installs with far less disruption and gives the new space independent temperature control — often at a lower total cost than a duct extension.

  • Can a ductless system work as the only heat source in winter?

    Most ductless mini-splits are heat pumps rated to operate efficiently in cold climates, including Idaho winters. Depending on the system and the size of the space, a ductless unit can serve as the primary heat source for a room or supplemental heat for areas your central system doesn't reach well.

  • How much wall space does the installation require?

    Very little. The indoor unit mounts high on the wall and connects to the outdoor compressor through a small conduit — typically a 3-inch hole. There's no ductwork, no dropped ceiling, and no major construction involved.

  • What's the difference between ductless AC and a ductless heat pump?

    The terms are often used interchangeably. Most ductless mini-split systems sold today are heat pumps, meaning they provide both cooling and heating. A system marketed specifically as "ductless AC" may be cooling-only. We'll make sure you're getting a system sized and specified for what your space actually needs.
